30 years of Visa rallying in France

Postby Mikee » Sat Jun 26, 2010 12:44 am

We all know the French love to rally their Visas and have done so right from the start back in 1980. In the beginning the French competed at local and regional levels before the Visa graduated to national and international competition. It once seemed as though every Citroën garage had a Visa that they used for one form of motor sport or another - wonderful advertising of course. There has always been a Visa of some kind in rally competition for the last thirty years in France, these days of course they are back to competing in local, regional and classic events - but they are still there. They still come in all shapes and sizes from the amazing pig-nosed 1219cc Mk1 Super X through to Chrono, GTi, Trophee and 4x4 Mille Pistes. There are a few odd years in the 90's when popularity dipped that I can't find a dated picture for (marked ?), so here from French archives are thirty years of Visa rallying starting with 1980 to 1985:

...1998 to 2003:

...2004 to 2010 (x2):

...to think that I could have filled this posting ten times over with pictures is a endorsement to Visa motor sport in France, I wish it had been the same in the UK :!:

Excellent pics Mikee.

BTW, what's the original of the 1st one in the 2004 slot like (car 62) ? Would it blow up a bit (there are a couple of things on it I'd like a closer view of) ? If so, could I have a copy ?

The Maxi is really nice but had you noticed that you lose the rear doors ? MC Racing in the south of France make the body kit and they confirmed that the rear panels just go over the doors. I did consider getting some and cutting them along the shut line but decided I've got enough work already to get the GTI built so have decided against it.

Maybe next time.

...it would appear that both the 99(Maxi) car and the 64 car have the same body kit, so here are a few more photos:

Thanks a lot for those :)
Yep i have noticed that rear doors will be out, but in a two seat car it's not a problem ;)
i will lighten the car and maybe move battery and little fuel tank to the rear. I really want to see how fast that will go
