Aw crap

Postby the_baron » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:46 am

Well a bang from outside the house didn't bode well and my LNA seems to have come to grief without turning a wheel.

A vistor to a neighbour opposite, lost control of their VW Touran whilst reversing and crashed into the side of my LNA 11E. Drivers (rust free door) is completely stoved in but luckily the window hasn't broken. As yet I do not know the extent of the damage apart from that, maybe B post and sill but too early to tell. My insurers will be sending a engineer to inspect it before I try and move it anywhere.

Not sure what will happen next. Is the car likely to be written off? How will it get fixed if doors and trim are unobtainium?

To say I'm pissed off is an understatement as I just got the little car running nicely.

...sorry to hear that Matt. I've tried before for other owners to find new replacement panels, but with no success in the UK; however, Graham originally bought the white LNA 11RE purely for the panels to use on his colorado beige LNA 11E. As you know both cars have been sold onto James who intends to break both of them now - this may be your best available source in the UK if the insurance assessor is happy:

Very sorry to hear that Matt, but fingers crossed it all ends well. :)

Strangely enough there seems to be a lot of accidents happening recently, another being someone's C6 being hit. :(

Only if you let them. Not your fault so the other party's insurance is liable - only your insurance can write it off, not theirs. Someone ran into the back of my Chevette at a set of traffic lights a few years back - I got the full insured value no questions asked.

Yep, nothing to do with your insurers - although you do need to tell them - and you have the right to be put back in the situation you were before. Just write to the 3rd party' insureres telling them you hold them responsible and will be claiming off them. You'll need to get some quotes to straighten it out no doubt, but there's no chance of picking up another, so when they offer £150 in 'full and final' settlement tell them to get lost, and if they don't play ball you'll sue them. Simples !

Bad luck BTW on it getting bent...

Ok the Insurance Engineer has inspected and reckons that its just the door that's busted, B post and Sill are OK.

Lock mechanism is busted though and the door won't open but at least I can now drive the car to Citroën Classics to get a quote.

So now the merry go round begins

Well at least that's good news. Lock might just be jammed too.

Could have been worse.
