Bonjour From France

Postby Cherami » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:10 am

Hi all, no don't worry I am not French just a crazy Englishman living in France. have lived here now for the past 6+ years with my son on our smallholding in the centre. We have various animals, but above all due to an accident this year where our little Renault 5 was murdered on the A71 by a crazy Belgium man playing with his radio. So we took the plunge and bought a C15 1.9 2003 from a company in Southampton for a third of the price we would have paid in France. Then we had an offer to buy another C15 1.8 from a French friend for the princely sum of 300€ about £260 after a few visits to the scrapyard and parting with another 100€ we managed to get it through it's MOT, so now we have two, but one is going into store for now.

These vehicle's are of course very popular among the farming community and with good reason and they use them until they just flop down dead, then they try and sell them at an outrageous price, but we are on to their game, because we don' care where the steering wheel is, unlike the French who really do not like to be on the wrong side.

Points I don't like are the expensive parts new and the foot peddles, although we have lots here in the old scrapyards thank goodness.

I hope to offer advise as well as getting it of course -lol- and have a fair experience with motors of all types including trucks and tractors. The forum looks great all round and have yet to explore completely. :bien: to all members

Welcome to the forum Cherami and thanks for registering up from the FCF. :D Glad to hear that you're enjoying your C15s - they are cracking little vans aren't they?!!

Any chance of any pictures of the van's?

I had a Transit with power steering before and initially thought
jeez ! this things so agriculteral and slow but I soon got used to it and
after some upper body workouts and long over due maintenance
I love it to bits now.
