CCC Northern Section wrote:Beamish opened in 1972 and stands in 300 acres of beautiful County Durham countryside. Most of the houses, shops and other buildings you see have been brought to Beamish, rebuilt and furnished as they once were. Some, such as Home Farm, Pockerley Old Hall and the drift mine were there already. There is a collection of trams from the North East, Blackpool, Sheffield and, surprisingly, Portugal. The old railway station is from Rowley near Consett and the coal drops were originally at West Bolden. The miner’s cottages once stood in Hetton-le-Hole.
You won't find objects displayed in glass cases at Beamish, you'll see them in their original context in the early 1900's. What's more, you will meet costumed staff proud of their heritage and happy to share their knowledge with visitors.
...in five hours we only managed to visit the town, the mines and the tram sheds. The annual ticket means that we can visit again for free, which we will need to do to see everything. Anyway here are a few photos to wet your appetite starting with the entrance and the cars:

...more cars including a very nice C1 VTR driven by a CX owner down from the Borders for the visit:

...a tram ride to Beamish town and a visit to the Co-op:

...inside the Co-op:

...back on the High Street:

...and onto the Garage:

...into the stables:

...tram sheds and steam cranes:

...and to end the steam digger, the shaft mine cage engine and the drift mine tour definitely for small people:

...a wonderfull place to go and we will definitely go again.
