Visa 1.0 in Dorset

Postby Red954 » Sun Nov 13, 2011 8:32 pm

Hi, just registered here at the suggestion of the admin, who spotted one of my postings elsewhere on the internet. I have a little red Visa 1.0, bought back in May after idly looking through the local Adtrader for something that might amuse me and provide cheap to run and insure wheels for my son to learn to drive in.
It's done 48000 miles, body is excellent apart from a couple of dings that can probably be pushed out, generally good mechanically but had clutch issues when we first got it.
Have been driving it myself for a few months now and have grown quite attached!

Looking forward to hopefully attending a Citroën get-together in it next year!

Welcome to the world of the Visa, what a great first car hope your son enjoys it. my daughter wanted the GTi as her first car  but the insurance on the 1.1 saxo i got for her was high enough god knows what the GTi would have been for a learner.

Nice to learn a little of the car's history, can understand the "too slow" problem, but I also drive a Trabant so it takes more than a bit of slowness to put me off!!!

Hope the Visa will be up to the driving practice duties, though the young man in question isn't exactly known for his light touch and maybe I should have gone for something a bit more robust - like a tractor!

...car number 29 on here:

...first came across it in 2008 owned by Simon in Essex who was a CCC member, he sold it (on eBay with all profit to the British Legion) in 2009 because it was too slow for him, to Dorset next I believe and then we lost track of it until now. Thanks for finding it again Franklin - there only 5 left according to DfT. :o :D

...good luck with the driving lessons Red and the lack speed may be ideal for driving practice - I remember during a stormy lesson with one of my daughters, she got out and caught a bus home. -lol- Here is the first photo I had of it way back in 2008 when it was owned by Simon:
